About FGM

Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) is a harmful traditional practice involving the partial or total removal of female genitalia, often performed on young girls. Practiced in parts of Africa, the Middle East, and Asia, FGM has severe physical and psychological consequences, including chronic pain, infections, childbirth complications, and emotional trauma. It is recognized globally as a violation of human rights.

Despite legal efforts and awareness campaigns, FGM remains deeply rooted in some cultures, often driven by beliefs about controlling female sexuality, social acceptance, and marriageability. By understanding the realities of FGM, we can work together toward ending this practice and protecting the rights of girls and women everywhere.
